Episode 73: False Evidence Appearing Real

On this episode we discuss Fear and how it can prevent you from some magical experiences in your outdoor adventure life and especially on the trail. Inspired by one of our Patreons and a members of our Trust the Trail FB group – Shirley Nutt – who overcame a fear of heights by scaling Half Dome in Yosemite National Park. We also offer six tips to help you overcome your OWN fears on the trail, one step at a time.

by the way you can always join in on our discussion on our facebook group – just go to: facebook.com/groups/trustthetrailpodcast/ and join our podcast family –

What we talk about:

  • FEAR: false evidence appearing real
  • Scott does the “stomach crawl” when getting close to a cliff
  • Don’t pack out of fear, pack from confidence
  • IDENTIFY THE ROOT OF THE FEAR
  • The more you get out there, the less fear you have

  1. Anger isn’t real – at least in the sense that it isn’t a primary emotion. It is an emotional biproduct of a different feeling whether it is a fear or more often some kind if disappointnent. I know that wasn’t the point of this podcast but it helps to know; the sooner we recognize anger happening the sooner we can stop and identify the source which is the most effective way to decrease its presence. Good show you two, keep smilin!
