Every year Amicalola Falls State Park & Lodge becomes home to the Appalachian Trail Kick-Off Weekend. For 3 days, hundreds of vendors, hikers of all experience levels and park naturalists come together to trade tails, advice, education and fellowship with one another.

We will be doing a LIVE Trust The Trail Podcast at Kick Off. We’ll do interviews, gear reviews, have special guest’s and walk around talking to our 2019 Thru-Hikers who are starting their journey. If you are coming out, we would love meet you and even put you on our podcast. At least come by and say hello.

No need to register. Just come by.

In 2003 I completed a Thru-Hike on the Appalachian Trail. Since then I have over 12,000 miles underfoot and 20 years of backpacking, and camping experience. Certifications include WFA, WFR, LNT Trainer, and belong to AORE. Have been guiding backpacking trips for over 10 years. The outdoors has taught me one thing. Trusting the Trail! really does provide everything a person needs.

  1. Hey I just moved to Georgia from Maryland where I ran a hiking club. I’m coming out to meet a thru hiker who our club is sponsoring this year and would love to connect. Looking forward to seeing you at this event!

  2. I’ll be there….but not to thru–hike 😩.
Since I’m not thru-hiking, I plan to sit next to the Arch pouting & crying, offering weak high-fives to this years hikers 😁☹️.
Then, I’ll just have to do the next thing….2 week section hike (end of March).
Last year was so much fun giving thru-hikers rides to Springer, Helen (wherever). Hopefully I’ll be able to do it again this year!

Do you happen to know any of the vendors that will be there this next weekend?

    • The vendors are ok. But you really want to hear the speakers who have hiked the trail. Amazing stories and laughs. We will be in Tent City across from the Visitors Center. Come say hello.

My brother and I are coming to the event and want to camp in the tenting area but we haven’t been able to figure out how to reserve a spot. Do we need reservations or just show up? Thanks, see you there!

    • You do not need to reserve a spot. But call the Visiters Center to make sure. You do however need to tell them that you are Thru-Hiking the AT.
