On this Episode we speak to our very own podcast listener, Amy Tappendorf about Backpacking with Type 1 Diabetes. The added challenges she faces in preparing for a trip. Specifically in regard to adding in weight for The What If. Amy found our podcast less than a year ago after learning about and exploring a new found passion for Backpacking.
She booked our Isle Royal Adventure Trip this past September – where I learned and experienced for myself the added preparations it takes to manage her Diabetes safety on the Trail.
Since then we have also backpacked a portion of Jacks River Trail – and I’ve been impressed with Amy’s resilience and determination in continuing to move forward in a passion – not allowing a very real challenge stop her. Not allowing for the very real concerns of the what if to impede her moving forward. And leaning how to reduce that added pack weight – that could otherwise easily add up to an un- managed element.
After speaking to Amy about bringing her inspiring story to YOU – I learned it coincided with National Diabetes Month. Today – the day of release – being World Diabetes Day.
