Tennessee offers some of the best all around outdoor activities anywhere. From White Water Rafting, to Hand Gliding, to amazing State Parks and beautiful backpacking trails. There is even some awesome caving opportunities in Tennessee. Of course one of the true gems of Tennessee is the Great Smoky Mountain National Park and all the trails on the West side of the Appalachian Mountains. From Gatlinburg, to Knoxville all the way to Chattanooga, Tennessee is a great State to get your Outdoor Gig on.

The best time to visit Tennessee to enjoy festivals and outdoor activities is in the summer months of June through August. However, Tennessee can get quite humid and hot in the summer, so for those who can’t stand the heat, the best time to Backpack is during the cooler fall months of September through November. It’s also the best time to hike the Smoky’s. Tennessee get’s a lot of rain and water is usually found on most of the hiking trails including higher in elevation. However, during Fall, the Smoky’s can get pretty crowded so plan accordingly if you are going to hike or camp in the Smoky Mountain National Park.

In 2003 I completed a Thru-Hike on the Appalachian Trail. Since then I have over 12,000 miles underfoot and 20 years of backpacking, and camping experience. Certifications include WFA, WFR, LNT Trainer, and belong to AORE. Have been guiding backpacking trips for over 10 years. The outdoors has taught me one thing. Trusting the Trail! really does provide everything a person needs.
